'MSJUMP' is a website dedicated to the support of a modern and holistic approach to the care, training and use of horses in the 21^st century.

It is accepted that many horses are kept for competitive use.  This does not mean or imply that their instincts, needs (physical or mental) are any less than those of a non-competitive animal.

We start with two fundamental truths about horses and their behaviour.

1. The horse has a relatively small brain for its size and therefore relies far more on instincts to determine its behaviour.

2. Most of the horses instincts stem from the fact that he a herbivorous animal, relying on flight to stay alive.

We welcome contributions onto our noticeboard and wish to stimulate intelligent debate on the best way forward with horses in the coming years.

Mark Smith is the consummate professional when dealing with horses but realizes that 99% of the people having day-to-day contact with horses are not.  They are amateurs, who dearly love their charges and want to do what is best for their equestrian dependants.

He believes the equestrian press is written by professional horse people and is accepted  by the amateur as gospel and sacrosanct. He thinks that the genuine horse lover should question what is written and be encouraged to believe that their opinions and attitudes to their horses may be different, but they are no less valid.

NO OTHER DISCIPLINE HAVE FRAMED THEIR RULES TO PREVENT ME FROM PROMOTING THE PRINCIPAL OF HARMONY AND UNDERSTANDING  BETWEEN HORSE AND RIDER IN THIS WAY.

I AM PRINCIPALLED ENOUGH, (IF U LIKE, I AM STUPID ENOUGH,) TO BELIEVE THAT IN MY QUEST TO PROMOTE HARMONY BETWEEN HUMAN AND EQUINE, I SHOULD BE PERMITTED TO COMPETE WITH A WELL TRAINED HORSE, UNDER BRITISH EVENTING RULES, WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT OF A BRIDLE WHICH INCLUDES A BIT IN THE HORSES MOUTH, OF ANY DISCRIPTION.

I HAVE ALREADY PARTICIPATED IN DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS WITHOUT A BIT; SHOW JUMPING HAS POSED NO PROBLEMS, CROSS COUNTRY I RIDE REGULARLY WITHOUT THE NEED FOR METAL RESTRAINT ... I ASK U  NOW
